Not a very good day

Firstly I was just leaving home to go to Yoga when it began to pour with rain, so I didn’t go – instead I managed to mess up emails and printer – just got that sorted and it was lunch time. Then I cut my thumb on a Magi mix blade having unsuccessfully tried to slice potatoes for evening meal. Not enough potatoes so went to shops, and also called in to surgery where they weren’t allowed to put plaster on for me. Bought extra pudding from M&S in case I couldn’t cook having the use of only one hand. I think that is definitely 3 bad things if not more so now I’m going to bed to read a book.

This is Tom & Luna – she looks like a tiny astronaut – maybe that’s serendipity! Trying to do some different work and looking for inspiration from family.

Great Auntship

Tom my nephew ( well one of them ) with his daughter Luna, born December 30th 2013. Matching spotty outfits – maybe dalmatian but more likely some sort of cat. Leopard maybe – not real of course. Lovely photo.

Hurray for Apple!

northoneartist

Just back from One to One Session 4 at Apple Covent Garden. Now our entire library of images, mainly paintings is on my new computer.

When I think back to how expensive and difficult it used to be – either get professionally taken trannys ( maybe £25 ) or do them yourself on 35mm. You had to take the painting to the photographer and collect it – then you’d only have the one copy which you had to give to whoever it was who wanted to reproduce your work. Often it never got returned, so then if you’d sold the painting that was it – all a lot of hassle. Now with wonderful Apple, all the images are here – all I need to do is email them and I still have another copy!

Never thought I could be so enamoured by a computer.

Early Ambitions!

My first book! It’s so funny to see this and it shows how people don’t really change – even at 7 or 8 ( think I was about that age ) I was a bit (!) of a control freak – I designed my cover, I was the publisher and writer  – but oddly I didn’t do the illustrations as well. The typography on the cover is quite way out.

Drawing & Painting Buildings

Mrs Potts should have been doing much more over the summer, but hopefully she will take up Northoneartist’s advice , stop doing the ironing and get on with more drawing soon!
Mrs Potts needs to take a leaf out of Northoneartist’s sketchbook and get on woth it!

I’d forgotten how much I enjoy drawing buildings – until I was reminded today about some work I did a couple of years ago. The Royal Albert Hall and Grays Inn. Maybe it could be my winter project – a drawing a week.IMG_2253IMG_2260IMG_2566IMG_2570IMG_2571IMG_2572

Favourite Books

IMG_4639IMG_4638Favourite Books

At Spitalfield’s Market yesterday I found a copy of this book ‘Mr Papingay’s Caravan’ by Marion St John Webb.
I loved this book and others by the same author when I was little – well I still like it. Wonderful cast of characters – Mr Papingay is a sort of early Dr Who. The there is Penny, a prim little girl who sews patchwork, The Lodger has a droopy moustache and is very gloomy – wants to be someone important and always looks on the black side of life, Aunt Muffin who is very bossy, and the Fat Boy who is rather greedy. Robin is a boy who has adventures with them all in the school holidays.

Garden

IMG_4627IMG_4625

First is a plant grown from seed – saw it at Sissinghurst but plant I bought died in the winter, so for some crazy reason managed to get seed from California and one survived. First time it’s flowered.

Then we have a Hosta which I have put on a table to keep slugs and snails away – and lastly an Agapanthus.

Shepherd Market

Quite fun being in a gallery for a few days – you see people going past and some notice pictures and some don’t – if you have to get their attention to even get them in to a gallery to look and maybe buy you really need to attract them – how to do that is hard.

I’d love Alan Sugar to help here – but that’s not likely to happen. But I’ve had a good week, met some new people, friends have come in so it’s all been fun and after tomorrow I can start doing new work – so that’ll be good too.Image
